“Io ora credo, guardandomi indietro, che non abbiamo combattuto contro il nemico… Abbiamo combattuto contro noi stessi. E il nemico era dentro di noi”.
Il finale del film “Platoon” (1986) di Oliver Stone riassume il dramma universale della tragedia della Guerra del Vietnam, in quell’inferno dove “il vero nemico è quello che si annida nel più profondo della coscienza”.
In relazione al tema della nostra rubrica posso solo dire che l’impatto della chiamata alle armi fu devastante per moltissime bands di garage rock americano nel biennio 1966-1967; videro interrompersi in modo traumatico la parabola musicale che avevano avviato, senza poter (in molti casi) raccogliere nemmeno i frutti di medio termine di tanto impegno ed entusiasmo impiegati nel costruire un’idea di futuro per le loro compagini musicali.
