CALEIDOSCOPIO ROCK USA ANNI 60
Nella seconda metà degli anni Sessanta per una rock band emergente americana era fondamentale la possibilità di spostarsi, percorrendo quella già fitta rete stradale che proprio in quegli anni stava conoscendo un “boom” per estensione e capillarità. Tra persone, strumenti, amplificatori, cavi, dispositivi di vario tipo… era necessario spazio, ma anche facilità di utilizzo del mezzo di trasporto. E fu così che i “vans” ebbero grande fortuna nel mondo musicale giovanile. Ma se tutti pensassero immediatamente al solito van Volkswagen in stile “hippie” probabilmente sarebbero fuori strada. Le bands in genere preferivano altri modelli, in primis Chevrolet Sport Van (confidenzialmente “Chevy”) o il Dodge A100 Sportsman; ma probabilmente il prediletto era il Ford Econoline, una sorta di “minibus ibrido” ritenuto molto funzionale nel trasportare la “ferraglia musicale”. Già altrove in un precedente articolo avevo accennato all’Econoline rosso mattone usato a ritmo incessante per le strade di Ohio e Pennsylvania dalla band “The Pied Pipers” nel biennio 1967-1969.
